After you submit your Form 2290, the IRS will stamp your form as proof of your payment. When you e-file,
instead of a physical stamp, you'll receive an e-file watermark, which will act as your digitally
stamped Schedule 1.
Although these "stamping" methods are very different, they are both recognized as the official proof that a
Form 2290 has been Filed with the IRS. This Schedule 1 can be shown to the Department of Transportation to
register a vehicle and apply for any necessary tags or permits. Addionally, an
Owner-operator will need to
provide proof to its Company or Carrier that the 2290 has been filed for their vehicle with the Stamped Schedule 1.
